Brian Eno Urges Backing to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The project hopes to send support to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Possibility for Unity and an "Surprise Victory"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I’m not gonna be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's resilient spirit.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for many individuals,” Barghouti shared. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup
The single was laid down following a large-scale benefit event held in the autumn. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.
The notable list of artists appearing on Lullaby features a range of acclaimed names from the industry. All took part in the September show, which managed to collect a substantial amount for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of producers and composers. The single blends a combination of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.
The group managing the campaign have stated that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a specific fund. These proceeds will be allocated to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an established charity.
“We don’t have a rigid aim,” a figure explained. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”
The situation in the region was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of infrastructure reportedly in ruins or severely impacted.
“Against that backdrop, a handful of millions is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The track is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a digital service from the 19th of December.
