He further emphasized that the signal was completely accidental, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I simply put up the wrong digit,” he noted. “The action was inadvertently done. This is sincere. If you want to call it accidental, you can. However, it got resolved rapidly.”

This is not the initial instance an NFL owner has been fined for misconduct. Recent cases involve:
- Panthers owner David Tepper was penalized $300K for tossing a beverage at fans in January 2024.
- Then Tennessee Titans proprietor Adams was issued a $250,000 penalty in 2009 for a comparable obscene gesture.
