England Bowling Consultant Tim Southee Uncertain on The Ashes Availability
The bowler's last Test for New Zealand was against England in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be during the upcoming Ashes series in the host nation.
The ex- New Zealand pace bowler is only likely to be available for the first Test because of his involvement in the International League T20 tournament, which starts on 2 December in the UAE.
The 36-year-old, 36, assumed a position as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the summer after taking 391 scalps in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Commenting as England's team for the first of three T20 matches against New Zealand was named, he said of his participation: "We are still evaluating that at the present time.
"We'll see what happens over the coming days."
England pace icon Broad had stated the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but the consultant was in no uncertainty over the anticipated challenge during the contest, which begins on 21 November.
"I don't think there's at any time a poor Aussie side," Southee said.
"Our focus is firmly on what we're trying to do. I think the quality of [the English] team that's going out to the host country is excellent.
"It should be an thrilling encounter, that series. Not just [are|do] fans from both nations looking forward to it, I think the whole cricket world is."
But, before the English team travel to Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on Saturday.
