Ex- BBC Specialists Participate in MPs' Grilling In the Wake of Claims of Bias in Leaked Memo

Previous British Broadcasting Corporation specialists testifying before MPs

We start with questions from Conservative MP Caroline Dinenage, who chairs the panel.

She initiates by giving background to the unauthorized document prepared by Michael Prescott and printed in a national newspaper.

"I do not desire the British Broadcasting Corporation tilting toward one side or the other, My only wish is for it straight, unbiased and equitable," he states.

Upon being questioned if he thinks the BBC is structurally prejudiced, he responds: "No, I do not. It is important to note, a great deal the BBC produces is world class - including factual and non-factual content."

Nevertheless, he states: "There is real work that requires attention at the BBC."

A further previous consultant BBC specialist questioned by the committee, Caroline Daniel, says she takes the BBC very seriously and that it has a "persistent practice and lively discussion" across fluid and multifaceted topics.

"Was the BBC willing to conduct a thorough discussion and exchange and act accordingly?" she reflects. "From my perspective, yes they were."
