Former Doctor Accused of Sexual Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors report that a ex- doctor has been charged with performing assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.

Details of the Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

The charging documents said the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
