Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.
It said debris landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
