Netflix Selects Perfect Performer for Mr. 2 in One Piece Upcoming Installment

Baroque Works is set to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the real showdown isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a cherished, fan-favorite member has recently been selected.

The streaming service revealed this week that Cole Escola will appear in the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will embody Bon Clay. This character possesses the power to transform into an exact copy of anyone they’ve made contact with with their dominant hand. The performer, who is gender non-conforming and prefers they/them pronouns, will depict a interpretation of that character re-envisioned as non-binary identifying, rather than as a drag artist, in the live-action show, unlike the original manga and animated series.

This performer will work alongside multiple fresh additions tasked with bringing the group to life, including chief Mr. 0, portrayed by Joe Manganiello, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.

Even though Bon Clay is a key figure of Baroque Works, the persona won’t appear until One Piece the third season. Considering the second season likely to portray the Little Garden arc, this represents a significant shift in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could signal more adjustments to the story’s structure.

Escola’s blend of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the character. In addition to their latest vocal work in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they garnered significant recognition and numerous honors for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll contribute to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.

Netflix's live-action One Piece series is scheduled to come back for its second season on the tenth of March, 2026.
