Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in realistic title contention, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, ended up in 17th place as his Red Bull team ran a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before sliding over the escape zone, and was blessed to get away with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also lost it, at the very end of the practice, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton finished practice in 19th place, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the rest of the field, with the German's car third fastest, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
