Starting Eleven

Dean Henderson Had little to do to perform in the first half before forced to intervene by an opponent's bent shot. One well-timed sliding intervention on Qazim Laci demonstrated excellent game intelligence. 6/10

Adam Wharton His first start with the national team. Slightly careless when playing out though his dangerous deliveries caused problems. An effective game manager available to the boss to call upon against sides that sit back. Cautioned for a rash challenge. Six

Declan Rice Set-pieces on corner kicks and set-plays caused problems. Was given freedom to roam on the left yet found himself in an offside position when the ball arrived in front of goal. Given a merited substitution after an hour. 6

Jude Bellingham Played in an advanced spot on the right and also contributed with defensive duties. Showed moments of class and dragged an attempt over. Replaced in the closing stages for a teammate, his rival, after being booked. 7/10

Jarrod Bowen Was presented with the team's best chance in the opening period, his effort excellently kept out from Thomas Strakosha. As a teammate hanging back, he was forced to offer an outlet down the right side although his balls into the box varied in quality. Substituted late in the match. 6/10

Harry Kane The decisive figure with his 77th and 78th goals in an England shirt. His first a typical poacher’s finish and his next a superb finish with his head having drifted away from his marker. Aged 32, his form is unwavering and the side are strong contenders next summer with him up top. 8/10

The attacker Had difficulty to get into the game on the left flank. Had a good opening following a pass from a teammate but the keeper made the save. Rashford made much more of effect when substituted. 5
