The Blues head coach Enzo Maresca announced on the final weekday that Cole Palmer is set to return for the squad's important top-flight encounter against London rivals Arsenal.

Everton have failed in their challenge against Idrissa Gueye's red card for a fight with teammate Michael Keane during the team's narrow win at Manchester United.

The player quickly said sorry, and the pair were seen reconciled later in a mock social media video.

However, the appeal against the dismissal was turned down, and Gueye must serve a three-match suspension, making Everton short-staffed for their upcoming fixture against Newcastle United.

“We challenged the decision and it was rejected,” coach David Moyes stated. “No explanation was provided for the rejection but we did appeal it.”

When asked about additional consequences from the incident, Moyes remarked: “It was over immediately, it was done, that was it, we progressed rapidly and it was all sorted within the dressing room.”

Nottingham Forest's manager Sean Dyche is hopeful that Morgan Gibbs-White will be ready for the team's home fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.

The defender was experiencing discomfort in his hamstring after the 3-0 Europa League win, but Dyche said the player “is expected to be okay”.

Meanwhile, Ola Aina (thigh injury), Douglas Luiz (thigh), the winger (hamstring), the striker (knee), and Oleksandr Zinchenko (hip) are expected to be unavailable.
