The Details Known Concerning the Those Lost of the Bondi Terror Attack
A minimum of 16 people were killed and over 40 sustained injuries when assailants shot at a Hanukkah gathering at Bondi Beach, an incident Australian authorities have called a terrorist attack.
According to the most recent information, authorities have announced the death toll remains at 16, which includes one of the suspected attackers. Additionally, 42 people with injuries were transported to the hospital.
The deceased are yet to be publicly named, but investigators think their ages are between 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
Originally from London rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, was initially identified.
Reportedly a father of five children, he served as the associate rabbi at a local Jewish cultural centre. Family members and friends remembered him as “lively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very warm outgoing person who loved to help people”.
“How can a joyful rabbi who went to a beach to share joy and positivity, to make the world a better place, meet his end in this way?” a relative asked.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the arrival of their newest son just a few months ago.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, as stated by his wife.
She told the moments leading up to the shooting, stating they had been standing together when the gunfire began. “He pushed his body up because he wished to be near me,” she stated.
The couple were both survivors of the Holocaust, having experienced immense hardship in their childhood. They had subsequently immigrated to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
French authorities have announced that French man Dan Elkayam is among the victims.
Officially, the Foreign Minister expressed that France shared the grief of his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This despicable act is a fresh and tragic example of a disgusting rise of antisemitic hatred that we must combat,” the statement continued.
One Child
A child who was rushed to the Sydney Children’s Hospital has been confirmed among the fatalities, authorities stated.
One Israeli Citizen
A national of Israel was a fatality in the incident, as per reports citing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
From the 42 people transported to hospitals, a significant number are still under care, with several in serious condition. The injured include two officers who attended the scene.
One of the injured is a member of the public who attempted to intervene to tackle one of the attackers. Described as a hero, he received gunshot wounds but is in stable condition in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
One of those wounded is Arsen Ostrovsky, a human rights lawyer. It has been reported he was hurt and is receiving treatment in hospital.
He wrote, he described the scene as an “absolute bloodbath,” but also praised the actions of those who came to assist. He said he felt it was a “miracle” he survived.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a community director, was also injured in the shooting. He described he listened to “a large number” of gunshots.
“Initially, I believed it was something less lethal, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he stated. “I was hit. I received first aid. I’m ok.”
